The Breakflare algorithm

Breakout Score™ is powered by Breakflare's proprietary scoring algorithm: a daily, backtest-calibrated blend of 40+ signals that ranks which mid-cap projects look closest to climbing toward the top 50.

The algorithm is the daily rank for CoinGecko ranks 51-200. Read the scoring stack and try the rank climb calculator.

Research rankings only. Not price targets or trade instructions.

How the algorithm works

One proprietary pipeline from raw feeds to a ranked research shortlist.

  1. 01. Collect

    Pull the signal stack

Each UTC day the pipeline gathers market, social, on-chain, news, technical, and whale signals across CoinGecko ranks 51-200. Broad Tier-1 coverage, deeper Tier-2 enrichment on the breakout band.

  2. 02. Score

    Percentile-rank every input

Raw feeds become cross-sectional percentiles versus peers that day. Missing sources are skipped and weight redistributes so one outage does not break the shortlist.

  3. 03. Rank

    Blend into Breakout Score™

The proprietary algorithm blends the stack, applies quality gates, and publishes Breakout Score™ with Hype, Climb, and confidence still visible as separate columns.

Breakout Score™ is the output

The proprietary algorithm is the engine. Breakout Score™ is the headline index it produces each UTC day.

Candidates in CoinGecko ranks 51-200 are sorted by Breakout Score™ (BS™). It is not a single vendor metric and not a buy signal. It is a relative research ranking: which names in the band show the strongest combination of attention acceleration, rank climb, market confirmation, and quality checks.

Exact weights stay proprietary and are retuned as labeled history grows. What stays public is the stack, the supporting columns, and the locked track record that grades past shortlists after each window.

Illustrative form

BS = clip(G × B × 100, 0, 100)

  • B — weighted blend of cross-sectional signal percentiles
  • G — post-blend gate multipliers (age, ATH, rank velocity, catalysts, and more)
  • Missing signals skip and redistribute weight instead of zeroing the row

Formula shown for intuition only. Proprietary weights and thresholds are tuned offline from backtest AUC and precision@K.

The scoring stack

Breakout Score™ sits on top. Supporting layers stay visible so you can see why a name ranked where it did.

Breakout Score™ (BS™)

Headline ranking for the band. Weighted blend of hype, acceleration, market confirmation, derivatives, search and influencer velocity, whales, news, and ML breakout probability when trained.

Hype score

How loud a coin is today versus peers across available attention signals. Level, not direction: high hype means elevated chatter, not a price target.

Hype momentum

Whether attention is rising or fading over 3-day and 7-day UTC windows. Acceleration matters more than a single loud day.

Climb

Transparent band composite inside Breakout Score™: chatter accelerating while market-cap rank improves toward the top 50. Supporting layer, not the headline sort.

Confidence

How well-supported a row is: signal coverage, ML depth, conflict penalties, and historical cohort precision when enough labeled history exists. Not a bullishness dial.

Catalyst context

Dated event intelligence on band names (listings, launches, unlocks) that can adjust timing and dampen false breakouts when overhang is high.

Signals inside the algorithm

40+ market, on-chain, DEX, social, news, technical, and whale sources. Broad context on the top 200; deeper research signals on ranks 51-200.

Attention and social

  • Social volume and mention velocity
  • Trending and virality pulse
  • Influencer and search interest
  • Reddit, YouTube, and related Tier-2 depth

Market and technicals

  • Rank velocity and market-cap context
  • 7-day price change and volume spikes
  • RSI and breakout-trigger strength
  • Derivatives: funding and open interest

On-chain and news

  • Whale score and holder activity
  • DEX heat where available
  • News volume and sentiment
  • Catalyst overhang rules

Quality gates after the blend

A high narrative spike is not enough. Post-blend gates reduce false breakouts before a name reaches the shortlist.

Gates are part of the proprietary algorithm, not a separate product. They keep Breakout Score™ focused on setups that combine attention with market structure and coverage quality.

  • Token age tiers

Very new names get dampened until there is enough history to compare fairly.

  • ATH and resistance setup

Distance from all-time high and breakout-trigger alignment reduce empty narrative spikes.

  • Rank-velocity alignment

Attention without improving rank is treated differently from attention plus climb.

  • Stablecoin exclusion

Pegged assets are filtered from breakout candidacy by design.

  • Catalyst overhang

Unlocks and similar events can dampen a score when timing risk is elevated.

  • Coverage resilience

If a feed fails, its weight redistributes across remaining signals instead of failing the run.

An algorithm that has to prove itself

Fresh data daily. Formula retunes weekly. Only proven upgrades ship monthly.

Every day

Fresh ranks on new data

Market, social, on-chain, and news signals refresh across the rank 51-200 band, then Breakout Score™ recalculates for today's shortlist.

Every week

Formula retune

Past breakout calls are graded, signal weights are adjusted, and new ranking logic is tested before it can change what you see.

Every month

Only proven upgrades ship

Recent ranking versions are compared against real outcomes. Clear winners go live; otherwise the working formula stays.

1-day, 7-day, and 30-day windows

Each hold window uses its own Breakout Score™ scoring and locked track-record cohort.

1-day

Fast lens for day-trading research. Same algorithm, shorter outcome window.

7-day

Primary horizon for the headline shortlist and most swing-style research.

30-day

Slower sizing or DCA research with its own locked cohort and grades.

Top-10 picks lock each UTC day per horizon so the shortlist does not shift under you mid-window. See how past cohorts graded on the track record .

Algorithm and Breakout Score™ questions

What the proprietary algorithm is, how Breakout Score™ ranks names, and what the supporting signals mean.

What is Breakflare's proprietary algorithm?
Breakflare's proprietary scoring algorithm is the engine behind Breakout Score™. Each UTC day it collects 40+ market, social, on-chain, news, technical, and whale signals for CoinGecko ranks 51-200, converts them to peer percentiles, blends them with backtest-calibrated weights, then applies quality gates before publishing the shortlist. Exact weights stay private; the stack, supporting columns, and locked track record stay visible. See the algorithm page.
What is Breakout Score™?
Breakout Score™ (BS™) is the main ranking for coins in the rank 51-200 band. It is the headline output of Breakflare's proprietary algorithm: a blend of social attention, how fast that attention is changing, rank climb, market context, whales, news, and quality checks so you have a clearer research starting point for your next decision. Hype, Climb, and confidence stay visible as separate columns. Full methodology overview on the algorithm page.
What is hype score?
Hype score measures how loud a coin is across social and market-attention signals on a given UTC day, ranked versus the other coins we track. A high hype score means attention is elevated today, not that price must rise.
What is Climb score?
Climb is a transparent band composite inside Breakout Score™. It highlights rank 51-200 coins where chatter is rising and market-cap rank is improving toward the top 50. It pairs attention momentum with rank climb, not price targets. The headline sort is still Breakout Score™ (BS™).
What is confidence score?
Confidence reflects how much signal coverage a coin has, plus historical evidence when enough labeled history exists. It describes how well-supported a row is, not how bullish Breakflare is.
What signals does Breakflare use?
Breakflare blends 40+ market, on-chain, DEX, social, news, technical, and whale sources into daily Breakout Score™ scores. Broad market context covers the top 200; deeper research signals focus on ranks 51-200 (community, search, news, DEX heat, holders, charts, and curated wallets). If one feed fails, weight redistributes across the rest.
Does Breakflare predict prices?
No. Breakflare measures attention and how fast it is changing, not future price targets or fair value. Breakout Score™ ranks candidates relative to peers. It is not a guarantee of top-50 entry or returns.
Does Breakflare work for day traders, swing traders, or position traders?
Yes. You choose a 1-day, 7-day, or 30-day window at onboarding (or anytime in the terminal). Each window uses its own Breakout Score™ scoring and locked track-record cohort. Day traders use the 1-day window; swing traders usually use 7 days; slower sizing or DCA often uses 30 days. Core research is rankings and context; optional Trading agent can place orders on your connected exchange.
Does Breakflare give buy/sell recommendations?
No. Rankings, scores, alerts, and catalyst notes describe attention and market context. They are not buy, sell, or hold recommendations. You are responsible for your own decisions.
